Mae’r Castell a’r rhan helaeth ohono yn hygyrch i bawb. Mae’n heneb ac felly mae rhai o’r ardaloedd yn anodd neu’n amhosib mynd atynt oherwydd cyfyngederau iechyd a diogelwch. Mae Castle Green House yn hawdd i bawb fwynhau, ac mae lifft i fyny i’r ‘stafelloedd ar y llawr cynta’.

The Eisteddfod Chair
The Chair is a nine-foot sculpture reimagining the original Eisteddfod chair. This artwork, carved by Paul Clarke, features hunting symbols, a crown, and the three ravens from Lord Rhys’s crest, reflecting the cultural heritage of the site.

The Whale Bone Arch
In the mid-19th century, Captain James Ellis, a local sea Captain, gifted two whale jawbones to the residents of Castle Green House as a wedding present. These bones were erected to form an arch, a popular garden ornamentation during that era.

Lord Rhys
This sculpture of Lord Rhys ap Gruffydd is crafted from the remaining stump of a 220-year-old Turkey Oak tree that had to be felled. Carmarthen-based artist Simon Hedger created the sculpture, which depicts Lord Rhys holding a sword and spear.

The Pineapple House Wall
During the 19th Century a hothouse was constructed against the wall to cultivate exotic fruits, including pineapples, which were considered a symbol of wealth and hospitality. The hothouse was demolished in the 1920s.

The Sword of Peace Sculpture
The inspiration behind the “Sword of Peace” stems from the adage “the pen is mightier than the sword,” emphasizing the power of words over violence. The sculpture stands as a testament to Lord Rhys’s foundational role in establishing the Eisteddfod at Cardigan Castle in 1176, celebrating creative expression.

WWII Pill Box
In May 1940, during World War II, the Home Guard constructed a concrete pillbox on the battlements of Cardigan Castle to control the bridge over the River Teifi. This fortification was part of the United Kingdom’s defensive measures against potential enemy invasions.

The Castle Lawn
The lawn offers visitors a serene environment. Historically, parts of the Castle were repurposed in the 18th and 19th centuries to create leisure spaces, and the lawn was at different points a bowling green, and latterly a tennis court. It is believed that the Lord Rhys’s original Hall lies deep beneath the lawn.

The Hanging Garden
The creation of the hanging garden is attributed to John Bowen, a local barrister who acquired the site in the early 1800s. He constructed Castle Green House and undertook extensive landscaping projects, including the hanging garden. Hanging gardens were traditionally added to provide depth and visual intrigue to architectural settings.

The Play area located in the lower site of the Castle, hosts a slide, outdoor games and climbing attractions and a picnic table, for our younger visitors.

The Regency Garden
Originally the Castle’s vegetable gardens would have provided the residents of Castle Green House kitchens with produce. Today the crops grown are used by the Castle’s onsite restaurant 1176 and reflect the seasonal availability when growing vegetables and soft fruit.

Castle Green House
The construction of the Georgian Castle Green House began in 1808 for John Bowen, utilising the foundations and a 13th-century round tower of the original Cardigan Castle. It was extended in 1827 by David Evans for Arthur Jones, the High Sheriff of Cardiganshire. The house became a Grade II* listed building in 1961. Today it houses exhibitions and is also an events centre and theatre space.

Ma’ perchennog Castle Green House, Mr Davies, yn mynd i gynnal swper crand i rai o foneddigion yr ardal. Mae’n fore cyn y Swper a mae Mrs Davies, ei wraig, newydd ddarganfod fod ei pherlau drudfawr ar goll, ac wedi eu dwyn!
Ma’ Mr Davies is gynddeiriog, ac yn gwrthod i chi a’ch criw ymadael â’r Castell tan i chi brofi nad chi sy’n euog, a’ch bod yn dod o hyd i’r lleidr. Mae’r cliwiau am y bobl allai fod yn lladron wedi eu cuddio’n ‘Stafell yr Enfys – y ‘Stafell ddianc. Drwy weithio gyda’ch gilydd rhaid i chi ddod o hyd i’r rhai sy’n ddi-euog, a chanfod lleidr Castle Green House, cyn i’r heddlu gyrraedd!

Camwch i galon hanes y Castell, y dre’, y fro, â’i phobol wrth ymweld ag archif anhygoel a chasgliad o greiriau iconig Castell Aberteifi. Mae’r casgliad unigryw’n croniclo canrifoedd o dreftadaeth y Castell, gan gynnig cipolwg ar straeon, gwrthrychau a thrysor cyfoethog ei hanes.

Bwcio Tywysydd i deithio nôl mewn hanes
Ma’ bwcio Tywysydd personol i fynd ar daith o gwmpas y Castell yn gyfle unigryw i ddeall mwy am yr hanes a’r straeon. Ma’r teithiau’n arwain drwy 900 mlynedd o hanes. Ma’r daith yn edrych ar y Castell o’i ddyddiau cynnar Normanaidd hyd at y cyfnod o gyfrannu i ddiwylliant Cymru ac ymlaen i’r cyfnod o’i adferiad, ac i’r Castell sydd i’w fwynhau heddi.
Bydd y daith yn cynnwys gweld muriau’r Castell canoloesol, cerdded drwy’r gerddi ag ymweliad â Castle Green House – a’r cyfan yn swn stori’r Castell.
Mae’n bosib bwcio taith ar gyfer grwp o bobl, ysgolion neu fel unigolyn. Ma’r Tywyswyr wedi’u trwytho yn hanesion difyr a bywyd y Castell.

Clybiau a Chymdeithasau sy’n Cwrdd yn y Castell
Mae nifer o glybiau,cymdeithasau a gwasanaethau i’r gymuned yn defnyddio’r Castell fel lleoliad, neu’n cyfarfod yn Tŷ Cadwgan ar y Stryd Fawr i gynnal eu gweithgaredd, ac yn mwynhau’r gerddi hyfryd, a’r gofod llawn hanes.
Mae Haneswyr lleol yn darganfod hanes y Castell a’r fro, a gweithdai ac arddangosfeydd yn aml yn cael eu cynnal ar y safle,l wedi eu hysbrydoli gan y cefnlen arbennig. Mae’r Castell yn ogystal yn leoliad ar gyfer lansio cyfrolau a digwyddiadau llenyddol, ble mae awduron, beirdd a darllenwyr yn dod at eu gilydd i ddathlu llenyddiaeth Cymraeg a chreadigrwydd.
Yn ychwanegol mae Castell Aberteifi yn llwyfan arbennig ar gyfer amrwyiaeth o berfformiadau cerddorol; opera, cyngherddau clasurol neu fandiau. Mae gerddi’r Castell yn fan hyfryd i berfformio.
Gyda cyn gymaint o wahanol mathau o grwpiau o bobl yn cyfarfod yma a digwyddiadau cymunedol yn cael eu cynnal yn y gofod, mae’r Castell yn chwarae rol ganolog wrth gyfoethogi bywyd diwylliannol y dref a’r ardal o’i chwmpas.
