The Sword of Peace

The Castle’s ‘Sword of Peace’ sculpture was created by artist Ben Dearnely and funded by the Ashley Family Foundation, drawing on the first Eisteddfod as its inspiration.

The project commissioned two poems.  ‘Arwyr’ was written by Ceri Wyn Jones, a local poet from Cardigan itself, and winner of both the National Eisteddfod Chair and Crown.  ‘The Thrush’ is the work of former National Poet of Wales, Gillian Clarke.  The sculpture incorporates a line from each of the commissioned works.
