The Bluebird Room

This Georgian bedroom now houses many objects and pieces of the Castle’s original furniture.

In previous times this room would have been decorated with this wallpaper and the windows and woodwork ‘silvered’ in silverleaf as was the fashion at the time. This is not the original wallpaper but a reproduction painstakingly created based on fragments found of the old paper during the restoration. The Castle has been fortunate in sourcing some of the furniture sold off at auction such as the chaperone’s seat and the sofa settee. Both were terribly damaged and in a sad state of repair when sold but renovated by the purchaser.
