The Hanging Garden
The Hanging Garden
The hanging garden dates back to the turn of the early 19th century, created by lowering the Castle Wall.
Traditionally hanging gardens were designed as architectural marvels that combined practical and aesthetic purposes. They were often constructed by rulers or wealthy individuals to demonstrate their wealth, influence, and ability to manipulate nature. In more modern times hanging gardens offered tranquil spaces for rest, reflection, and social gatherings, serving as peaceful retreats in bustling urban areas.
Today, the hanging Garden is a quiet area of reflection looking out over the Teifi. In years to come the area will be developed, with the Castle currently planning a potential bee-garden and the planting of vines.
