Work begins on new entrance

Work begins this week on a new entrance for Cardigan Castle. The project is one of the final phases of development as part of the original grant to restore the castle.

The intention of the new entrance is to provide a better sense of arrival at the castle, a reassuring confirmation that you’re at the right place. The new entrance will also see the creation of a new public space in the courtyard which is currently gated off. It is envisaged that this will become an area that’s often used, especially in the summer months.

“The new entrance is key for us in ensuring we continue to attract visitors to Cardigan Castle, the new entrance will also feature better signage and a place to showcase what’s going on at the castle. The creation of the courtyard will provide additional space for people to eat and drink as well as potentially hosting small scale live artistic performances.” Jac Davies, Castle Director

It is anticipated that the works to complete this project will be completed in January.
